Dolores Park

Dolores Park offers a clear view of the downtown skyline when there is no fog. Dolores Park -- officially Mission Dolores Park -- is named after Mission Dolores, established by Spanish missionaries in 1776. Native Americans of the Ohlone tribe inhabited the area for several centuries before Spanish missionaries arrived. In 1906-07, the park served as a refugee camp for more than 1600 families made homeless by the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and fire. Dolores Park remains a popular relaxation and recreation open space for people from all over San Francisco.

James was inspired to paint this by his late Father who always liked the view of the City from the top of the Park. This oil has strong light and color and incorporates both thin and thick impasto painting techniques.
